Looking
for ways to save some time?
- Establish a set time each day to sort
through papers and email. If you’re working toward a
deadline you have a tendency to move a little faster. Find a
designated area for all papers, preferably a surface large
enough to sort, categorize, and file.
- If you are behind in your paper work, do
a quick sort and separate the papers that need to be dealt
with now from those that you can do at any time. Divide
these into two piles for the first two weeks of the month
and another for the second two weeks, that way you can deal
with them when you need to.
- Cut down on time spent doing laundry by
sorting by family member. Have a basket for each member’s
clean laundry and then each member can put their clothes
away.
- Cut down on the time you spend dusting by
using a pair of old gloves or two socks that lost their
mates. Your gloved hand will make fast work and it will be
easier to get into the crevices.
Looking
for more space?
- You may not be able to display all of
your things at the same time. Trying to put too much of a
collection on a table or shelf will only distract from the
individual pieces. Put just a few of the pieces out and give
them a space to "breath". Then switch them out once in a
while to create a new fresh look.
- The best way to create the illusion of
more space is to keep clutter under control. Designate a
space for each member of the family to put their "stuff", so
that pick up time is quick and easy.
- De-junk your trunk! With today’s high gas
prices, you can improve your gas mileage with less weight,
so remove all unnecessary items from your car.
- Choose food storage containers that are
square. They can stack and fit into the corners –saving
valuable space.
- Store all like items together. This will
avoid duplication, you will know when you are running low
and it will heap to keep things in order (you know where it
goes)
- Tiered racks and pull out cabinet
shelving do help to maximize cabinet spaces in the kitchen,
bathroom, utility room and closet.
- Make packing for a trip easier
by categorizing your clothes into zip lock bags. It makes
going through a security check much easier as well.
