FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Why should I pay
someone to help me clear the clutter?
Anyone can clear the clutter, but unless you address the
reasons why it got that way and create systems to keep
things in order, the clutter will come back. Betsy will help
you solve your organizing problems. In addition to helping
you create a more organized space, Betsy will help you
implement a system or process of maintaining control so you
can reduce the clutter, improve your quality of life, as
well as save time and money

What are the benefits of using the Senior Move services of
Space and Time?
Senior moves are emotionally difficult,
especially if they aren’t voluntary. At best, the
organization and physical tasks associated with moving can
be overwhelming when combined with health problems, time
constraints and downsizing. Betsy can provide the
constructive, positive support, and resources needed to make
the smoothest possible transition. When a move requires
downsizing, Betsy is sensitive to the feelings and emotions
that are involved with the process of letting go and can
provide confidential, non-judgmental support and guidance.
Betsy has been referred to as a coach, objective party,
advocate, life-saver, Godsend, miracle worker, and family
referee.

Why should I call
Space and Time and not a moving company?
Betsy does more than just move your
stuff. As a CRTS, Betsy provides professional assistance
for all aspects of a move from start to finish. These
services can include: coordination of the move, floor plans,
packing, unpacking, recreating spaces to best suit your
needs, sorting and disposition of unwanted items through
sale or donation, and preparing your house for sale. Betsy
helps manage your move so that it is a stress free and
smooth as possible. She can provide consultation, hands on
assistance, as well as a list of resources for whatever may
be needed.

Who
typically uses a CRTS/Senior Move Manager?
Everyone is unique and Space and Time
is helping a variety of clients who are faced with the
overwhelming task of downsizing and relocating. Most are
adults, 55+, that have not moved in 20-40 years and need to
downsize considerably. It could be the “baby-boomers” who
need help to “right-size” their home for their new lifestyle
or moving into a smaller space in an active retirement
community. It can be the older adult that is facing medical
concerns and has to relocate to a smaller, assisted living
community. Often, it is the adult children who make the
initial contact because they either live somewhere else, or
they are not readily available to help their parents with
the daunting task of sorting through a life time of
possessions. There are times when there is a crisis
situation and Betsy can help the family get through a very
difficult, emotional time by assisting with relocation or
the disbursement of an estate.

How
much does it cost?
Betsy will develop a customized plan
to meet your needs. The fees are based on the options you
select and the size of your move. Whatever your need, Betsy
can work with you to accomplish your goals, saving you
stress, time, and in some cases money. One family lived out
of state and found that contracting with Betsy was far less
than it would have cost them to travel, pay for lodging,
take time off from work, not to mention the emotional and
physical strain that it would have cost.

What is "Aging In Place" ? Can you help with this?
Most people would rather stay in their
own home instead of moving to a retirement or assisted
living community. The Journal of Housing for the Elderly
states that “Aging in place is not having to move from one’s
present residence in order to secure necessary support
services in response to changing need.” That simply means
that people need to change their living environment to best
suit their present needs. As a Professional Organizer and a
Move Manager, Betsy can help to make the changes that are
needed to make the home safer and appropriate to your needs.
These services include constructive, positive support and
guidance with organizing important documents and
possessions, the disbursement of unwanted items through sale
or donation and creating the spaces that will work for you.
